🛕 Balaram Mahadev Temple

Balaram Mahadev Temple is an ancient Shiva temple located on the banks of the Balaram River, within the Balaram Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary area. The temple is named after Lord Balaram (the elder brother of Lord Krishna), who is believed to have meditated here.

The temple features traditional Nagara-style architecture with a towering shikhara. A large Nandi bull statue sits facing the sanctum, which houses a naturally formed Shiva lingam. The temple's location by the river, surrounded by ancient banyan trees and the forested Aravalli slopes, creates a deeply peaceful and meditative atmosphere.

🪷 Kedarnath Mahadev Temple (Jessore)

Kedarnath Mahadev Temple is a remarkable Shiva temple nestled deep within the Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary. What makes this temple unique is its setting — the lingam is situated among massive natural boulders, with the forest canopy forming a natural roof. The trek to the temple through the sanctuary is an experience in itself.

Devotees believe the lingam is naturally formed (Swayambhu) and has existed here for millennia. The temple is particularly busy during Shravan (July-August) and Maha Shivaratri, when pilgrims trek through the forest to offer prayers.

🌿 Mangalya Van & Rashi Van

Mangalya Van (Mangal Forest) and Rashi Van (Zodiac Forest) are unique astrological-themed gardens located near the Ambaji Temple. These beautifully landscaped gardens offer a peaceful retreat from the bustling temple town.

Mangalya Van is divided into nine sections, each dedicated to one of the Navagraha (nine planets in Hindu astrology). Each section features appropriate plants, colours, and design elements associated with the specific planet. An open-air planetarium provides educational displays.

Rashi Van features twelve sections representing the twelve zodiac signs (Rashis), each with carefully selected plants and design elements associated with the sign.

🌊 Dantiwada Dam

Dantiwada Dam is a major irrigation dam constructed across the Banas River, surrounded by the scenic Aravalli foothills. The reservoir is a popular picnic spot and offers beautiful views of the water against the rugged hill landscape. During winter, the dam attracts numerous migratory birds, making it a good spot for birdwatching.

The nearby Dantiwada Wildlife Sanctuary (separate from Jessore) is home to various wildlife species including wild boar, nilgai, and numerous bird species. The area is also known for its agricultural prosperity — the canal network from the dam irrigates large parts of Banaskantha.
